How can the answer be improved? Answer 1 of 11: We're taking an international flight out of LAX but have a 5 hour layover before we leave. Is there ANYTHING worth doing in the international.
You could take a private tour of LA. It would be a little pricy (as high as $600 for a whole day) but the benefits are that:a) you don't have to worry about your luggage - it can stay in theb) they can pick you up at the airport and bring you back to exactly where you need to goc) you have someone who knows the area to show you aroundd) you can tailor the tour to do what you want to do - if you want to spend extra time in a certain spot or skip something then it's up to you and you don't have o worry about the tour finishing on time for your because it totally revolves around your needs. Here is a link for one tour company. I have not tried them but they get good reviews on Tripadvisor.
You could also take a group tour but, of course, then you lose some of the benefits mentioned above. Both were purchased together?
You had no choice but to wait until 10:55 pm for your onward? Sounds like a red-eye to the East Coast. Two overnight with one day in between? I'd look for a day room at a LAX area hotel (may need to contact hotels to ask about day room rates but others may have suggestions).
You can contact the of your second to see if you can hand your bags over at the transit desk outside Customs. Sometimes check-in desks open 3 hours before a (usually international without during the day), but for transit bags can oftenbe checked much earlier (don't know about 12+ hours).
We've had long layovers between, though not quite as long as yours. And after a long international we're usually tired. If you really want to tour and absolutely cannot visit L.A. When you actually have a full day not sandwiched in between two overnight, you'd need to give some interests for people to give ideas. You could, for exaple, take the FlyAway bus to then subway to (if that's an interest of yours).
Or take a taxi to Sony (formerly MGM) Studios in nearby and take one of their tours. Edited: 14 June 2012, 05:24. How do I post a question on the Forum? What should I include/exclude in my posting?.
